This unmoving, semi-coherent account of Jewish persecution in Fascist Italy won the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar. This is the third De Sica film I've seen now, and they've all been similarly dour, boring, and pointless. This is the kind of stuff that gives foreign films a bad name.
