A well-drawn portrait of unemployed shipyard workers wasting away their lives. It doesn't sentimentalize their plight, but neither does it leave much for the audience to empathize with. Everyone's a victim; there's no character development; there's so little drama, it's not even a real story. This is the kind of movie only a privileged liberal could like; real unemployed people (even privileged liberal ones like myself) want the main characters to do something, anything.
