santa cruz island

Spent last Sunday (the day after going to Joshua Tree) at Santa Cruz Island with my family. Not to be confused with Santa Cruz of Beach Boardwalk fame, this island is the largest of the (Santa Barbara) Channel Islands.

There wasn't anybody out kayaking, probably because the Channel was a little rough. But there were a couple sailboats bobbing along the coast. I hope to go back soon to try kayaking around the sea caves. Paddle Sports of Santa Barbara offers guided trips. "All trips include... wetsuit [and] helmet."

Hmmm, maybe I'll practice a little first.
