san juan day 1

Got in to San Juan last night. Went to check out Saturday night life scene in the old town, but were finished after one Corona apiece.

Hotel El Convento is great. Great courtyard restaurant and bar. Nice little rooms. Free water.

Saw the sights of Viejo San Juan today. Weather not as hot as expected; it's quite nice with the seabreeze. Ponce de Leon is buried across the street. El Morro fort is a trip back to the times of Columbus and Francis Drake. It's hard to imagine all the Spanish, English, and Dutch battling it out on the plain now filled with Sunday afternoon kite-flyers.

Anyway, off to check out the rooftop pool.
