movies to cure jetlag
Attempting to maintain my East Coast jetlag, since I will be in Puerto Rico in two days. So here's three unnecessary movies panned in fifty words each.
Shall We Dance: Miramax Incorporated
More Dirty Dancing than Strictly Ballroom or the Astaire-Rogers Shall We Dance. Pleasant romantic comedy between non-actors Gere and Lopez. Sarandon more beautiful than ever. Stanley Tucci and Lisa Ann Walter inject a little Baz Luhrmann schtick, but it's all according to formula. Miramax: oh how the mighty have fallen.
Bruce Almighty: God is Canadian
We're used to Hollywood producing two or three movies with the same concept. It's spreading: Bruce Almighty and God is Brazilian share the same story, the same wacky humor, the same mediocrity. Jim Carrey, Jennifer Aniston, and Morgan Freeman are just going through the motions. Catherine Bell is hot though.
Bridget Jones: The Edge of Believability
Why does Colin Firth like Bridget? Why does Hugh Grant like Bridget? Just because she asks herself these questions doesn't mean all of a sudden the attraction is believable. Bridget is unbelievably clumsy, yet unbelievably likeable. The London she lives in is unbelievably uptight. And the story is unbelievably outworn.
