Sandra Dee dead at age 62

Sandra Dee, star of the original Gidget, immortalized by Stockard Channing in the movie Grease, died on Sunday at the age of 62.

In last year's Beyond the Sea, a biopic about Dee's ex-husband Bobby Darin, Dee was played by the up-and-coming Kate Bosworth, who's breakthrough role was the surfer chick in Blue Crush.

It's a scary thought: if you're famous (Ray Charles, Katharine Hepburn, Sandra Dee), and somebody is doing a biopic about you, chances are you either just died, or are about to. I guess it's just sad that artists have to pass away for us to remember them.

At least, we'll always have their recordings.
